Ans) Production of goods in large quantities after processing from raw materials to more valuable products is called manufacturing, for example paper is manufactured from wood, sugar from sugarcane, iron and steel from iron ore and aluminium from bauxite.
Q.2) What are basic industries? Write with examples.
Ans) Industries which provide base for other industries. Their products are used in manufacturing and operating other industries and are called basic industries. e.g., iron and steel, copper smelting, aluminum smelting.

Ans) Cotton textile, sugar industry, paper industry, jute industry and edible oil industry etc. are based on agriculture.
